Advantage ll for Large Cats 4pk
Fleas are most commonly thought of as a dog-owner's problem, but cats are also susceptible. In fact, the most common fleas to infest homes (attacking dogs, cats and humans) are Ctenocephalidesfelis or cat fleas. They hide in the animal's fur and feed off its blood. They are not only itchy and annoying; they are also potentially dangerous. We carry Advantage II, an industry standard in flea prevention treatment. A single treatment will kill 98-100 percent of fleas within the first 12 hours of application, and will also keep eggs from hatching, preventing further infestations for up to 1 month. This particular preparation is formulated for large cats over 9 pounds, and each box contains a 4-month treatment. It's waterproof, completely safe for your pet and easy to apply.
Dangers from fleas include flea allergy dermatitis, with some cats being more allergic than others. This will cause skin irritation and possibly scabs and hair loss due to excessive scratching. If the cat ingests any fleas, intestinal tapeworms are also possible. Flea bite anemia can also occur in the case of a severe infestation. Most serious is hemobartonella, a parasite transmitted by the flea, which can destroy red blood cells. While this can prove fatal in extreme conditions, it is avoidable with regular preventative treatment.
Advantage II is a monthly flea preventative for cats that offers comprehensive flea protection by killing adult fleas, larvae, and eggs. It also treats, prevents, and controls lice on dogs. Advantage II does not kill ticks.
Each box contains a 4 month treatment.

How it works:The first active ingredient is imidacloprid, which acts on the nervous system of the flea to cause paralysis and subsequent death. Within 12 hours of application, 98-100 percent of fleas are dead. The second active ingredient, pyriproxyfen, is an insect growth regulator. Once a female flea lays her eggs, pyriproxyfen works to prevent the eggs from hatching, ending the flea life cycle.
Cautions:Individual sensitivities, while rare, may occur after using any pesticide product for pets. If signs persist, or become more severe, consult a veterinarian immediately. Do not get this product in your pet's eyes or mouth.
